What a WILD week.

• An assasination attempt of a presidential candidate

• A widespread global technology outage bringing down large banks, hospitals and airlines - to name just a few

• The withdrawl of President Biden from the 2024 presidential election.

No matter your political leanings - all of this over just 8 days time is enough to make us really wonder- WTF is going on?

I won’t attempt to tackle that question - you read this newsletter for career development musings not political analysis and really…I don’t even know where to begin to answer that- but I do know we have to acknowledge the global chaos that is currently permeating our day-to-day.

It’s impacting us - far more than we likely realize at the moment.

Years from now we’ll look back on the chaos of July 2024 with several opportunities to tell younger generations our “where were you when” stories complete with exaggerations, heightened emotions and the gift of perspective.

But right now - we’re living in it and the highs and lows and uncertainties are real. If you’re like me you may swing from anxeity to apathy and back around to intrigue in the matter of minutes as the newscast blares in your living room.

If you’re like me, you feel out of control.

In weeks like this (although I can’t really remember a week ever quite like this) it’s easy to put your own desires and goals on the backburner and to get caught up in the drama that is our current political landscape.

This is your reminder that the best way to fight tonight’s Sunday scaries and feel more in control is to take real steps to author your own headline versus be consumed by them.
